I changed out of my winter clothes and started walking wherever the road took me in no specific direction. The man who took this picture told me that I shouldn't let people take pictures of me and I asked why? He said because then they'll ask me to go for a drink with them. LOL, So he asked me to go for a beer with him, which perhaps I would have agreed to if he didn't tell me before that, that he had a girlfriend. lol..... Note to guys because it's obviously not common sense to you: I wouldn't recommend telling a girl you have a girlfriend if you want to then ask her out for a drink. LOL I know this sounds like common sense, but as I learned it wasn't. lol
I was walking along when I encountered Oliver standing in front of La Bayou Restaurant promoting the menu items. I never knew what a " bayou" was before coming to Louisiana. A bayou is a body of water that is typically really low and slow moving. They are usually filled with yummy things like shrimp, catfish, shellfish, and then things that think you are yummy like crocodiles and alligators. LOL ahhhhh
Here is a video of Oliver at La Bayou Restaurant
Oliver was really nice and looked great on camera. I would have stayed, to eat and chat with him ,but I just arrived in New Orleans and wanted to explore. I was only spending one night in the French Quarter and didn't know if I would be back. Also, I really didn't know what I wanted having not slept. I wanted to do everything including: Sleeping, eating, drinking, and looking at sites my guide book said are must do's .I was exhausted, but was in New Orleans with a mission to see New Orleans. :P
I continued walking down Bourbon St. when I encountered a street performer singing, who looked a bit drunk and crazy. I gravitate towards wild people. lol This is him, check him out!
I continued walking along my journey of Bourbon St. when I heard jazz music!!!!! I heard some jazz music when in the airport, and although lovely to hear, it was from a cd and this was LIVE! The music actually pulled me to go and see what it was all about. That's a pretty good marketing strategy if you ask me! It works! You hear music from the street and are drawn in like a magnet. The law of attraction pulling you to sit down at Cafe Beignet to enjoy the ambiance while having something from their menu!
Check out my video from Cafe Beignet!
If you heard it wouldn't you go inside?
The band played a lovely song which I thought was very nice and positive! He says when you're smiling, the whole world smiles with youuuuuuuuuuuu!
I decided to eat something and listen to the Jazz. I ordered a lemonade and some Jambalaya. I wasn't 100% crazy over the Jambalaya, but was thinking maybe it was just the place or maybe I was just tired? lol It seemed to be a rice dish mixed with sausage and chicken. That's ok, "it's just an experience!"

I asked a man to take a picture of me and he did. See picture below. He mentioned to me that he ate turtles chocolate before and then I saw chocolate on my camera chocolate from his hands. grrrrrrrrr lol Who does that? :P He was in his 40's from Chicago wearing a a suit even though it was so warm! He had sunglasses and mardi gras beads on. He started chatting with me asking what I have seen in New Orleans. I haven't seen anything I told him. And then that's when he asked me if I wanted to walk around to the river together. I was not feeling it but the words, " Sure" came out of my mouth. LOL How does that happen? He went to the washroom or "bathroom" as they say in the States, while I decided how I was going to tell him I didn't want to go with him. I don't know. I wasn't vibing him. Was it the chocolate on my camera? Was it that he was in his 40's in a suit a sunglasses? I don't know.... I just know I didn't feel it. How awkward to tell a person, you aren't vibing them. Well of course, you don't say it in that way. lol That's rude!
So we started walking and then I just politely asked if I could walk alone because I wanted to write and blog. AWKWARD, but it was the truth! He was understanding. Sorry! Sometimes people think if you are traveling alone that you want a partner and are lonely. The thing is to travel alone means you are pretty independent in exploring alone. :) Wink wink!
